Baneocin is a combination of two antibiotics that requires a prescription. It contains two active substances, which are very effective when applied locally and which have an antibacterial effect (destroy germs): neomycin and bacitracin. It can be used locally on the skin, mucous membranes, wounds, and body cavities. Used for bacterial infections of the skin on a small area, bacterially infected diaper rash, prevention of umbilical cord infection in newborns, and after surgery.

Usage directions
Use a gauze pad or cotton swab to apply a little quantity to the affected region; if needed, cover with a gauze dressing. Wash your hands, before and after using. Follow your doctor's instructions when taking this medication. Do not use it for longer than instructed. A second infection is possible. Store at room temperature. Do not refrigerate or freeze.

Caution
Not for use in the eyes or on mucous membranes; only for external use. Rinse thoroughly with water if it comes into touch with your eyes.
Warnings
If sensitivity or local irritation occurs, discontinue usage. Long-term usage can lead to bacterial or fungal superinfection. If you are allergic to bacitracin and/or neomycin, or any other antibiotic of the aminoglycosides group avoid using it. Baneocin should not be used on serious or extensive skin injuries since its absorption into the body might induce negative effects that impair hearing.
